About The Breed

- 
Known as the “Royal Dog of Madagascar” 
- 
Ancestors of this dog are thought to have arrived in Madagascar in the 16th century on trade and pirate ships. *Quickly becoming pets to members of the royal court and other wealthy families. 
- 
Arrived in mainland Europe and North America in the 1970s 
- 
The French bred the color out of the Cotons making them all or mostly all white. 
- 
AKC accepts 3 colors (white - sometimes with tan or gray, black and white, and tricolor) 
- 
Favored for their happy disposition and low maintenance 
- 
Rare breed - has faced extinction at several points in history 
- 
Sheds very little - because their fur is different than typical dog fur they are less likely to trigger allergy issues. 
- 
Known to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets 
- 
Part of the Bichon Family - Small but sturdy

Captain is a stud at Seven Seas Cotons. Captain comes from Hungarian lineage and has characteristics of the original Coton de Tulears. He is a sweet, sweet boy.
